Step-by-Step Setup
1
Complete Your Business Profile
First, let's set up your business information. This is whatanglers will see when they visit your booking page.
Where to find it:
Go to Dashboard → Settings → General
What to fill in:
Business Name: The name anglers will see (e.g., "Captain Joe's Fishing Charters")
Description: A brief overview of what you offer. Keep it to 2-3 sentences that capture what makes you unique.
Contact Phone: The number anglers can reach you at
Contact Email: Where booking confirmations and inquiries will go
Location: Your city and state—this helps anglers find you
Logo: Upload a square image (recommended: 400x400 pixels or larger)
Pro Tip
Don't have a logo? A clear photo of your equipment works great as a placeholder. You can always update it later.
2
Create Your First Trip
Now let's add your first trip. This is what anglers will book.
Where to find it:
Go to Dashboard → Trip Types → Add Trip
Required information:
Name: What you call this trip (e.g., "Half-Day Inshore Fishing")
Description: What anglers can expect. Include target species, techniques, what's included, etc.
Duration: How long is the trip? (in hours)
Price: Your base rate for this trip
Capacity: Maximum number of guests you can take
Optional but recommended:
Photos: Upload 2-3 photos showing happy anglers, catches, or your equipment
What's Included: List everything you provide (rods, bait, ice, cleaning, etc.)
What to Bring: Help anglers come prepared (sunscreen, food, cooler, etc.)
Pro Tip: Start Simple
Start with your most popular trip. You can always add more later. Most captains offer 2-4 trips (half-day, full-day, specialty trips).
3
Set Your Availability
Control when anglers can book you. By default, you're marked as unavailable—you need to open up dates.
Where to find it:
Go to Dashboard → Calendar
How it works:
Click a date to toggle it between available and blocked
Set default start times for each day of the week
Block specific dates when you know you won't be available (maintenance, vacation, etc.)
Setting recurring availability:
Instead of clicking individual dates, you can set a recurring schedule. For example: "Available Monday through Saturday, 6 AM".
Don't Forget
Your calendar is private. anglers only see available time slots—they can't see why you're blocked or what other bookings you have.
4
Connect Stripe for Payments
To accept online payments, you'll need to connect your Stripe account. This takes about 3 minutes.
Where to find it:
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Payments
What happens:
Click "Connect with Stripe"
You'll be redirected to Stripe to enter your business and bank details
Once complete, you'll be redirected back to Guidewinds
You'll see "Connected" status on your Payments page
What you'll need for Stripe:
Your legal business name (or your name if sole proprietor)
Your EIN or SSN
Bank account and routing number
A phone number for verification
When Do I Get Paid?
Stripe deposits funds directly to your bank account, typically within 2 business days after each booking. You can track all payments in your Stripe dashboard.
You're live! Now let's get anglers to your booking page.
Find your booking page URL:
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Booking Page
Your unique booking page URL looks like:
https://guidewinds.com/book/your-business-name
Where to share it:
Your website: Add a "Book Now" button that links to your booking page
Social media: Put it in your Instagram bio, Facebook page, etc.
Google Business Profile: Add it as your booking link
Direct messages: Send it to anglers who inquire
Email signature: Include it in every email you send
Embed on Your Website
If you have a website, you can embed the booking widget directly. Go to Settings → Booking Page → Embed Code and copy the snippet.
You're All Set!
Your booking page is live and ready to accept bookings. Here's what happens next:
Angler visits your booking page and selects a trip
They choose an available date and time
They enter their details and pay the deposit
You both receive confirmation emails with all the booking details
The booking appears on your Dashboard calendar
Common Questions
What if I need to make changes after setup?
Everything is editable! Go to your Dashboard and update your profile, trips, availability, or settings anytime. Changes take effect immediately.
Can I customize the booking page design?
Yes! Go to Settings → Booking Page to customize colors, add your logo, and adjust the layout to match your brand.
How do I handle deposits?
By default, anglers pay the full amount at booking. You can enable deposit-only payments in Settings → Payments → Deposit Settings. Choose a percentage (like 25% or 50%) to collect upfront.
What if I don't want to accept online payments yet?
You can skip the Stripe setup and use Guidewinds just for scheduling.Angler will be able to request bookings, and you can collect payment your own way. However, we recommend online payments—they reduce no-shows significantly.
